An average annual household consumption rate of 7,540 kilowatt hours was used to develop the energy
equivalency presented. This consumption rate was obtained from data presented by the Boulder County
Civic Forum in their 2000 Community Indicators Report, available at
      http://www.bococivicforum.org/indicators/environment/35.html

The equation to calculate the electricity equivalency is:
     S (gal of gasoline) * 36.6 (kWh/gal of gasoline) / 7,540 (kWh/yr/HH) = # of Households per year

     Given:
     36.6 kWh = 1 Gallon (US) Gasoline
7,540 kWh/yr/HH = Average annual consumption rate of electricity per household
     S(gal) = VMT/Fuel Economy
VMT = Miles pledged by participants to travel using transportation alternatives
Fuel Economy = 24 mi/gal (Average fuel economy for the best selling car in America, the Toyota Camry)
